A great bird dog is the ultimate complement to your upland hunting forays. What is a great bird dog? OJ answers, "A great bird dog is a dog with the desire and ability to please his master - a partnership to be shared not only in the woods and fields, but in the home as well. A true hunting companion and a family member".
OJ works with a dog and it's owner through a methodical two-part process resulting in a personable hunting companion.
Conditioning starts with the interaction of the pup with its mother and littermates and must continue under the guidance of its new master. This early conditioning is very important as it prepares the puppy for a lifelong learning experience - the dog learns how to learn. Conditioning involves introducing & encouraging positive experiences and avoiding & discouraging negatives. Note: It is very important to recognize that part of the conditioning goal is to avoid independence and possessiveness in our dog.
Training - the training of specific commands, field work and the introduction of birds - is made much easier by the early conditioning.
